Who we are and what we do.

Penny Parks Training Ltd (PPT) is a company set up to oversee and administer training in Parks Inner Child Therapy™ in all of its forms: Therapist Training, Trainer Training and Workshops. It is the only body authorised to provide this training.

We are committed to equipping therapists with the most effective and efficient tools to enable them to provide their clients with the best resolution of the trauma and issues arising from childhood abuse.

PICT is a complete therapy model developed by Penny Parks to resolve the issues arising from Childhood abuse and to do so as efficiently and compassionately as possible.

Accreditation for the course(s) is provided by third party Accredited Registers approved by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

As a world-class therapy model we particularly embrace the following core values, principles, beliefs and standards as the foundation of our identity:

PPT and PICT Values

The top 10 core PPT and PICT values are:
  1. Leadership
  2. Excellence (worldclass)
  3. Integrity
  4. Respect
  5. Freedom (Choice)
  6. Commitment
  7. Resourcefulness
  8. Compassion
  9. Empathy
  10. Proactivity

The core Values of PICT & PPT in detail and the Principles by which they are applied:

  1. Leadership is at the heart of both therapy and training – leading clients through their issues to resolution, and leading students through the learning process to qualification. PICT is a proactive model, leading the client through a clear set steps, tools and procedures - where leadership is essential on the part of the therapist to do so effectively and compassionately.
  2. Excellence. To match the excellence of the content of PICT with its presentation and delivery.

Excellence in Content – PICT is a fully developed complete therapy model that is continually evolving to ensure that it reflects and utilises the best technology and methods currently available as well as reflecting current protocols and ethical standards.

Excellence in Training – using the best methods, tools, technology and materials available at the time to provide the best learning experience possible and doing so in a comfortable safe, secure and supportive learning environment.

Excellence in Materials – to ensure that the materials provided are of the best quality to ensure maximum legibility, clarity, comprehension and usability. Where possible content will also be made available online for ease of accessibility.
  3. Integrity. Implicit in both Excellence and Leadership. Integrity is essential in maintaining standards in all aspects of how we work with clients, therapists, students, trainers and service providers as well as how we expect them to deal with their own clients and service providers. Integrity is also essential in providing and working in a safe, secure, non-judgemental environment presenting equality and a level playing field in the form of equal access to therapy and training.
  4. Respect. Abuse cuts across all aspects of society irrespective of class, creed, religion, gender or colour. Therapists are expected to deal with it equally without judgement or prejudice. At PPT we welcome students that also cut across all aspects of society to ensure that we are providing training that serves the community equally as a whole. We believe that everyone deserves respect no matter their background, where they are coming from or where they are headed to.
  5. Freedom (Choice). The aim of PICT is to move clients from Victim mode, through Survivor mode to Thriver Mode. A place where they can gain freedom from the past and enjoy choice in their future. To become the person that they were meant to be before abuse threw them off track.
  6. Commitment:
    • For PICT Students to commit to engaging fully with the training process and to see it through to completion.
    • For PICT Therapists to commit to the ethos of PICT and its Values, Priciples, Beliefs, Standards, rules and ethics.
    • For clients to undertake PICT they have to be ready for, and committed to, change.
    • At PPT we are committed to developing PICT and its availability so that all who need it have access to it.
  7. Resourcefulness. PICT is a resource, providing both therapist and clients with a complete tool-kit and set of strategies.
  8. Compassion. PICT is a highly compassionate form of therapy providing humanity and dignity, particularly due to the fact that:
    • PICT does NOT require the client to relive their abuse experiences.
    • Reliving the abuse experience is not only unnecessary it is not an efficient route to resolving the trauma. How can re-affirming the power of the abuser over the client be of benefit to anyone but the abuser?
    • PICT frees the client from the trauma gently and efficiently, putting power, dignity and respect firmly back into the hands of the client.
  9. Empathy. The development of PICT has been based on the direct first hand knowledge of abuse and decades of working with abuse victims. It is built upon a vast resource of the understanding of abuse in all of its forms and the wide variety of effects that it may impose upon its victims. That resource of knowledge and understanding leads to a highly empathic approach and therapy model and is a key aspect of PICT training.
  10. Proactive (directive). One of the symptoms of living in “victim mode” is that people become reactive to the environment around them rather than taking control of their lives a being proactive. PICT not only teaches the client and student to be proactive, but as a therapy model in itself is a highly proactive, directive therapy. This not only makes it a highly efficient and effective therapy model, but also becomes a role model of pro-activity.
